The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) at the College of Applied Science, Perissery, was established to address the issues related to SC/ST, OBC, minorities, and physically challenged students, ensuring that their concerns are managed effectively on a continuous basis.
Aims and Objectives
- To oversee the effective implementation of policies and programs for disadvantaged groups.
- To provide guidance and counseling in academic, financial, social, and other matters related to the welfare of these communities.
- To promote and enhance diversity within the campus, ensuring inclusivity.
Functions
- To ensure equity and equal opportunity for all members of the college community and foster social inclusion.
- To increase diversity among the student body, teaching, and non-teaching staff while eliminating any form of discrimination.
- To create a socially congenial environment that promotes academic interaction and healthy interpersonal relationships across diverse social backgrounds.
- To sensitize the academic community about the challenges faced by marginalized communities and the importance of social inclusion.
- To support and help students from disadvantaged sections in addressing discrimination-related issues.
- To handle grievances from the weaker sections and recommend amicable solutions to their problems.
- To disseminate information regarding welfare schemes and programs for the marginalized, including government policies and initiatives.
- To ensure that the admission and registration procedures for students from disadvantaged backgrounds are barrier-free.
- To collaborate with government bodies and other agencies to mobilize academic and financial resources for the benefit of students from disadvantaged groups.
- To organize periodic meetings to monitor the progress and impact of various welfare schemes.
- To ensure that SC/ST students receive their rightful share in admissions, recruitment, and academic success.
- To raise awareness within the college about the challenges faced by SC/ST and other disadvantaged groups.
